Such an evocative song and even more amazing when you consider Ewan MacColl was just 17 when he wrote it for the mass trespass of Kinder Scout on April 24, 1932 – 80 years ago today.
My four year old daughter loves singing it.

A big favourite of mine but check out the “Joy of Living” which brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it – being that he wrote it when he knew he was dying. Â Oh and being married to a Hanoian, Ballard of Ho Chi Minh goes down well too.Â
