Joel Cere notes that there is a ‘bit of ranking mania‘ at the moment and Matthew Watson at Rainier PR has compiled a list of the world’s top PR blogs based on the AdAge Power150. It’s not perfect as I think some have been missed off, and despite the fact I’m not a big fan of blog league tables, I couldn’t help but smile to see that A PR Guy’s Musings is ranked at number 11 in the world. Wolfstar’s new recruit Sam Oakley also makes the list of the world’s top 50 public relations blogs with All Things PR at 46.
A PR Guy’s Musings is also ranked at number 2 in the UK (it used to be number 1, damn young Mr Stephen Davies). And even better there are just two UK public relations consultancies with PR bloggers in the UK top ten – Wolfstar (A PR Guy’s Musings and All Things PR) and Hotwire (Drew B’s take on tech PR and Pudding Relations).
Er…no 3?
Hi Stuart, thanks for the link! One thing though – Wadds is at number 3 in the UK and he writes a PR agency blog for Rainier. As does Steve Earl (http://www.rainierpr.co.uk/earl) who hasn't quite made it on to the AdAge 150 yet.
Matt
I was struggling to understand Wadd's comment about 3 until Matthew commented and then it suddenly made sense. My confusion was around top 50 or top 60 and top 10 or top 12. If you look at the UK top 12 then it is 3 PR agencies as Matthew's blog is at 12 so it becomes Rainier, Hotwire and Wolfstar. My mistake was just looking at the top 10. Apologies to Rainier.
Bit of confusion here too I think. Thought you meant UK PR consultancy blogs rather than UK PR consultancies with PR bloggers.
For UK PR consultancy blogs, Rainier is in the top 10. But for UK PR consultancies with PR bloggers we're sadly not.
Sorry Stuart and thanks again for the link!
My blog will be slipping down the ranks in the next couple of months.
Details to follow. 🙂
Hi Stuart, thanks for referencing my post. I publicly snigger at rankings but deep down my ego received a full body massage 🙂
I too snigger at rankings – but cannot fathom my absence *ego FAIL*
Yep, you and David Brain were the two that I immediately spotted as missing, hence my reference, but I'm sure there are others.
It still gives you a little tingle down the spine, even though you know it is nonsense.
Cheeers for the link Stuart – sadly I've been pushed down to number 9 in the UK.
Stephen – looking forward to hearing about the details 😉
Wadds – how could anyone forget you?
Matt – you'll be No 1 soon!
Ah.. a little bit of ego stroking via ranking is always good for the bloggers soul. I wonder if the other 'guru' Mark Borkowski is a little miffed at not making the big list.. mind you that looks set to change with his big book launch/competition coming up. Wondered if you or others had any opinions on it? Its a curious idea – could make or break him! http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Fame-Formula/17421984230
