Congratulations for screwing up and why sex could help advertising win over PR

Congratulations to Todd Defren at Shift Communications for screwing up on a social media outreach programme. Actually it’s not so much congratulations for screwing up, but more for doing the right thing by acknowledging it, sharing the experience and learning something from it.

One thing that I knew when we started Wolfstar is that at some point we’re going to screw up. It’s inevitable that as the team grows and you’re working for more and more clients. What’s important is that we’re all trying to do the right thing and helping each other to learn.

Jeremy Pepper has a brilliant rant post on why he thinks advertising will beat PR because it sexes up what it sells and charges more for it. He also has some fabulous insights into PR and social media. Jeremy used to run his own small PR shop, before getting snapped up by Weber Shandwick. He’s now moved on to be Director of Communications at The Point, which looks like a really interesting Web 2.0 start-up that’s about brining people together to solve problems.
