Tomorrow and Thursday I’m attending the International Public Relations Association Summit at the Waldorf Hilton in London. The organisers have invited me to attend and blog about the summit. I’m also hoping to do some some short vox pop type video interviews with some of the speakers and delegates.
Lots of interesting sessions on the programme, but the one that will probably most interest other PR bloggers is the first panel discussion on innovation in public relations:
PANEL DISCUSSION: Innovation in public relations: Modern PR is in its youth compared to advertising or marketing, but surprisingly often it shows a geriatric inertia in responding to the latest technology and trends. How can we as senior PR practitioners keep up to date with innovations for 2007?
Moderator: Gaye Hudson, Vice President of Corporate Communications in Europe, Middle East and Africa, Oracle
Speakers: Mark Mellor, Managing Director, Firefly; Euan Semple, Independent Advisor on Social Computing and former head of Knowledge Management, BBC; Mark Durrant, Director of Communications and Public Affairs for Europe, Middle East and Africa, Motorola
Some of the other sessions include:
- Managing a global reputation during a crisis
- Global communications strategy: planning and development
- Corporate responsibility (moderated by Paul Holmes of the Holmes Report)
- Global PR campaigns: implementation and tactics
- Public relations at board level
- Can communications solve the clash of cultures?
- Hot global PR issues of 2006
If you’re going to at the summit then drop me an call/email/IM/Skype and we can make sure we catch each other.
Thanks to Jennifer Hardie of Pinnacle Public Relations for inviting me to cover the IPRA Summit.
