I have a confession to make. I’ve committed the cardinal sin of not checking my sources. Yesterday, I reported on a Legal Week news story about city law firm Watson Farley & Williams starting a blog for its trainees.
Except it hasn’t. Alarm bells should have rang when I read the phrase “the most fashionable law firm marketing initiative.” It’s no consolation that Legal Week’s Caroline Grimshaw was also fooled.
It might be ‘fashionable’ to blog but it just makes you look stupid if you claim to be and aren’t. WFW looks a bit like your granddad turning up at club with an open neck shirt and medallion.
WFW gets -7 out of 10. They should have listened to one of the world’s first senior business bloggers who said:
“My advice about blogs… have good advisers who understand the blogosphere”
Bob Lutz, vice chairman of General Motors
Thanks to Craig McGinty who alerted me to this.
