With some trepidation I’ve finally decided to move my A PR Guru’s Musings blog to Typepad. In doing so I also finally practice what I preach to clients and give it its own URL at www.stuartbruce.biz. I’ve experimented with both Movable Type and WordPress but decided to go with Typepad because that’s what I’m already using for several clients. As it has the ability to import/export posts I can always change the platform later.
Despite the recent problems with Typepad I still have faith in it. It remains a good solution for small businesses and organisations (although the Yahoo Movable Type offering might present a viable alternative). Movable Type and WordPress might both be better, but a business that doesn’t have an IT person needs something that it much easier to install and maintain.
UPDATE: After reading this account by BL Ochman maybe Yahoo doesn’t sound such a bargain!
We’ve moved to Typepad

I like it Stuart. I've always been a fan of the amount of page space you get on a TypePad blog. I also agree with you when you say you have faith in TypePad's services. They're just a victim of their own success at the moment.
It's good to have faith, Stuart. You've just moved to TypePad and I'm in the process of moving away from TypePad after 18 months with the service. Not becuase of the outage last week although that has influenced my timing.
I'm going WordPress on my own server so I'll be responsible for everything. A new experience! I'm also running another blog on that server using Movable Type, keeps my hand in with different platforms. But my moblog stays on TypePad.
Good luck with your move.
Hi Stuart – "You not been keeping up to recent events? We're getting our asses kicked around here" (as they say in Alien 2)
Typepad=outtage=BS
Quite a few people have come off this platform the last week in part because of the atrocious problems of last Friday…me included…(like Neville I was considering a move anyway) they just accelerated the process.
I did a comparison with what happened at EDS this week – http://www.flacknhack.com/?p=307
I wish you luck but I wouldn't bet my business on them – yet
